Medals, decorations, awards and orders of Usi

Medals

Medals are awarded for special services to the nation or civilian gallantry* and are the most prestigious type of honor. Bestowed and designed by the Head of Executive, they commemorate the occasion on which an individual advanced the Usian Republic or showed great personal merit. If a medal is won more than once, either the class of the medal is upgraded, or more than one ribbon bar is worn.

*Members of the military also receive medals; however, these are part of a different honors system.

Gold Octagon Medal: The most prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded for a "highly significant service to Usi" and can only be given to an Usian citizen while alive.

Silver Octagon Medal: The second-most prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded for "a very significant service to Usi" and can only be given to an Usian citizen while alive.

Bronze Octagon Medal: The third-most prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded for "a significant service to Usi" and can only be given to an Usian citizen while alive.

Pentagon Medal, first class: One of the most prestigious Usian medals, this medal is awarded posthumously to Usian citizens for "dying to preserve the government of Usi", or for "saving many lives".

Pentagon Medal, second class: One of the most prestigious Usian medals, this medal is awarded to Usian citizens who have "put their lives at risk to preserve the government of Usi" or to "save many lives".

Pentagon Medal, third class: One of the most prestigious Usian medals, this medal is awarded to foreigners who have "died or put their lives at risk to preserve the government of Usi" or to "save many lives".

Pentagon Medal, honorary: One of the most prestigious Usian medals, this medal is awarded to foreign diplomats for "collaborating with the Usian Republic". Highest medal that non-Usians are eligible for.

Usi Star, platinum: A prestigious Usian medal, this medal is posthumously awarded to Usian civilians who have "died upholding public order, the constitution, the government, or another vital part of the Usian nation".

Usi Star, gold: A prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded to Usian civilians who have "been gravely injured upholding public order, the constitution, the government, or another vital part of the Usian nation"

Usi Star, silver: A prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded to Usian civilians for "working overtime to aid a war effort or similar effort out of reasons of patriotism or sense of duty".

Usi Star, bronze: A prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded to Usian civilians for "doing a considerable amount of civilian work to support a war effort or similar effort".

Usi Foreign Star, platinum: A prestigious Usian medal, this medal is posthumously awarded to non-Usians for "dying to uphold the public order, constitution, laws, government, or other vital aspect of the Usian nation".

Usi Foreign Star, gold: A prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded to non-Usians who "are gravely injured upholding the public order, constitution, laws, government or other vital aspect of the Usian nation".

Usi Foreign Star, silver: A prestigious Usian medal, this medal is awarded to non-Usians who "aid a war effort or similar effort of Usi or an ally of the Usian Republic by doing civilian work overtime out of a sense of duty".

Usi Foreign Star, bronze: A prestigious  Usian medal, this medal is awarded to non-Usians for "aiding a war effort or similar effort of Usi or an ally of the Usian Republic by doing a considerable amount of civilian work".

Medal for Extraordinary Social Devotion, 1st Class: This medal is awarded for displays of extreme altruism or sense of fairness, an unvarying pursuit for justice or equality, or for promoting the state or people in some way.

Medal for Extraordinary Social Devotion, 2nd Class: This medal is awarded for displays of altruism or a sense of fairness, an unvarying pursuit for justice, or for promoting the state or people in some way.

Medal for Extraordinary Social Devotion, 3rd class: This medal is awarded for lesser displays of altruism or a sense of fairness, a special pursuit of justice or equality, or for promoting the state or people in a minor way.

Usian Honor (white): This medal is awarded to Usians for "three times demonstrating valor or exceptional devotion in the employment of a government agency".

Usian Honor (blue): This medal is awarded to Usians for "two times demonstrating valor or exceptional devotion in the employment of a government agency".

Usian Honor (yellow): This medal is awarded to Usians for "demonstrating valor or exceptional devotion in the employment of a government agency".

Usian Honor (green): This medal is awarded to Usians for "in general demonstrating valor or exceptional devotion in the employment of a government agency".

Usi Medal: This medal may be awarded on various grounds.

Long Service Medals:

Awards

Awards are bestowed for services to the nation or performing excellently in a field and are a smaller deal than medals. Bestowed and designed by the Head of Executive, they commemorate the occasion on which an individual represented the nation's people's best sides. If awards are won multiple times, stars, palm fronds and other devices can be added to the ribbon bar of the award in question, though awards may also have different classes.

Citizen of the Year Award: For being the most important figure in Usi's development (any aspect) in the year 2014.

 Citizen of the Year Award: For being the most important figure in Usi's development (any aspect) in the year 2015.

Thanksgiving Festivity Award, first class: For preparing the turkey dinner for the official government Thanksgiving festivity.

Thanksgiving Festivity Award, second class: For aiding in the preparation of the turkey dinner of the official government Thanksgiving festivity.

Thanksgiving Festivity Award, third class: For providing a small aid in the preparation of the turkey dinner of the official government Thanksgiving festivity.

Christmas Festivity Award: For playing a role in preparing the official government Christmas festivities.

Anti-Tobacco Award: For successfully discouraging the use or trade of tobacco within and outside the Usian Republic.

Athleticism Award: For representing the Usian Republic in a foreign or international athletic competition.

Citizenship Award: For persuading at least three people to become Usian citizens.

Constitution Award, author's class: Awarded to the main author of the constitution upon ratification.

Constitution Award, first class: Awarded to major contributors and proof-readers of the constitution upon ratification.

Constitution Award, second class: Awarded to all involved in the writing and ratification of the constitution upon ratification.

Crisis Management Award: Awarded to government officials who take appropriate measures to minimize damage and reverse the effects of a miscellaneous crisis.

Cuisine Award: Awarded to the inventor of a recipe that is very popular (regularly eaten or often eaten on special occasions) among at least 10% of the Usian population.

Data Collecting Award: Awarded to reliable conductors of studies and polls who make the results readily available to the Usian government.

Diplomacy Award: Awarded to domestic diplomats for maintaining largely positive relations with all nations that fall under the domestic diplomat's field of responsibility.

Female Equality Award: For promoting the equal treatment of women and girls in the government, at the workplace or in public places inside or outside the Usian Republic.

Gardening Award: For maintaining the gardens and grounds of Usian government buildings and other infrastructure.

Legislation Award: For promoting the passing of legislation in the Usian Republic. This includes sponsoring (overseeing the passing through the Parliament, if it ultimately becomes an Usian law or not) of a bill.

Minority Award: For promoting tokenism or the fair representation and equal treatment of minorities in the government, in public or at the workplace.

National Symbol Award: For designing one or more national symbols of the Usian Republic.

Political Correctness Award: For promoting political correctness or infallibly using politically correct phrasings without reaching an absurd level.

Secularism Award: For promoting or ensuring secularism (separation of church and state/government) and secularization.

Decorations

Decorations, in this sense, are badges, ribbon bars, pins, etc. used solely for decoration or identification. Worn on the right side of the chest, away from medals and awards.

Government official ribbon bar: Ribbon bar that may be used by generic members of the Usian government to identify as such.

Head of Executive ribbon bar: Ribbon bar used by the Head of Executive to identify himself as such.

Citizens' ribbon bar: Ribbon bar optionally used by full citizens and permanent residents of the Usian Republic to identify themselves as such.

Orders

As of 1 July 2015, no orders of chivalry exist within the Usian Republic.

Members of orders that existed previously may keep their postnominals.
